Principal – Nicole Wenger has over 20 years experience teaching, public speaking, and developing curriculum. Nicole is delighted to share her passion and work alongside parents to live life well. “Helping start Ambleside at Skylark has been one of the greatest rewards of my life. I have the privilege to work alongside and individually observe each child grow, in every area of their life, in a warm, joyful and challenging atmosphere.” Mrs. Wenger has a B.S. from Bridgewater State University and a M.S. in Environmental Studies / Conservation Biology from Antioch University in Keene N.H. Nicole and her husband, Chris Wenger, are co-founders of Ambleside at Skylark and they have two boys who attend the school.Administrator – Audrey Poindexter graduated from New Creation School of the Bible and is finishing her B.A. in Business Administration with an emphasis in sustainable business and an A.A. in Spanish. Before taking on the school’s Administrator role Mrs. Poindexter taught at Ambleside in grades 3-4. In her free time, Ms. Asplund enjoys the outdoors through hiking, running and other sports, soccer in particular. “It is an honor and a privilege to be part of Ambleside at Skylark where God is the center and children can flourish in learning”.
Admissions and Parent Volunteer Coordinator– Sage O’Neil graduated from Colorado State University. After spending 8 years managing greenhouses and plant nurseries in Golden and New Castle, Sage became a stay-at-home-Mom to their two daughters, both which attend Ambleside. “As a family, it has been a blessing to partner with Ambleside at Skylark. The philosophy and teaching methods fit everything we want for our girls’ education while allowing God to stay at the center of it all. It truly is my pleasure to support the school as a parent and now in an administrative role. I find so much joy talking to prospective parents and students and look forward to watching the school continue to grow!”
Art Specialist– Mrs. Rayzor was the school’s Kindergarten teacher for 4 years before moving into the Art Specialist position. “I am so thankful to have an opportunity to teach in a place that reverences God above all else. The children learn in an atmosphere of joy and I absolutely love being here as they discover and learn about the world around them and the amazing God who created it all.” She graduated from Rhema Bible College in 2012 with a Youth Ministry degree and again in 2013 with an extended studies music degree in Worship Composition.Handwork / Shakespeare Coordinator / Substitute Teacher– Lori Keathley is a wife, mom, and veteran homeschooler of 22 years. Lori and her husband, Hampton, have five children, the youngest two having attended Ambleside at Skylark. A native of Texas, Lori and her family moved to Glenwood Springs in August 2015 so that they could be a part of Skylark. She trained with Ambleside Schools International in 2013 and has had an ongoing relationship with them ever since. Lori is passionate about Charlotte Mason’s educational philosophy and enjoys sharing it’s message with others. For Lori, Mason’s message of “growth, not perfection,” is a breath of fresh air. As a teacher and volunteer at Skylark, Lori has enjoyed getting to know the children and walking alongside them on their educational journey. “It’s a beautiful system and I’m blessed to be a part of it.”
Middle School – Matt Wilcox attended an Ambleside School from 2nd to 8th grade. In 2016 he graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. After graduating he hiked the Pacific Crest Trail. While he was in Oregon, he accepted a teaching position at Skylark and moved from his home in Virginia to Glenwood Springs. He enjoys reading, hiking, skiing, biking, and anything else outdoors that Colorado offers. Matt has been hearing and learning about Charlotte Mason his entire life and is excited to be part of a growing school where students are inspired by worthy ideas and encouraged to strive for excellence in all things.
Grades 1 and 2 – Carrie Bowen worked with significant support needs children for 8 years before coming to Ambleside at Skylark. She graduated with an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and is currently enrolled in Grand Canyon University completing her Bachelors degree. Carrie is an active member of her church choir as well as the media department. “I love that I get to work with wonderful people. God has brought me into the family here at Ambleside at Skylark and I feel very blessed to have this opportunity. It is a wonderful, blessed opportunity to nurture children in their walk with God as well as their education.”Director of Arrowsmith / Math Specialist – Jenn Zwickl grew-up in Glenwood Springs and moved back to the area in 2009 to raise her son. She received her Associates of Arts from Colorado Mountain College, and her Bachelors of Science in Psychology with an Emphasis in Addictions Counseling from Liberty University. In the summer of 2016, Jenn received her Certified Arrowsmith Program Teacher credentials in Toronto, Canada. She is a volunteer and continues to work towards her state licensure as an addictions counselor. In her spare time Jenn enjoys reading, crocheting, being outdoors, golfing, camping and playing with her son. “I am truly blessed that my son and I are both able to be part of the Ambleside at Skylark community!” Jenn has one child attending Ambleside.
Spanish Specialist – Lisa Hutchinson is a mother of two young children and has over 7 years experience working as a bilingual therapist with youth, adults and families. She graduated with a masters in Social Work from the University of Denver in 2009 and studied Spanish in Mexico during her bachelor’s program at Metropolitan University of Denver. She is passionate about languages and learning. “I am very blessed to have found Ambleside at Skylark not only for our own children’s education but also so that I may serve God with the gifts and talents He has given to me for His glory.”
Kindergarten and K-Readiness– Paola Amengual has taught K-Readiness – Grade 2 and Spanish at Ambleside. In her spare time Ms. Amengual enjoys the outdoors through camping, hiking, and sports such as volleyball and snowboarding. ” It is a true privilege to work and serve at Ambleside at Skylark where God is at the center, and where the children can learn about all the great and wonderful things he made for us.”Grade 3 – Cara Pettinger has worked with children for the last six years in general education classrooms to significant support needs before coming to Ambleside at Skylark. Cara is currently enrolled at Grand Canyon University where she will finish her Bachelor of Science in Early Elementary Education and Special Education. Cara grew up in the valley and enjoys hiking, as well as playing a round of golf.
