Faculty and Administration

Director of Arrowsmith- Andrea Barth is a co-founder of Ambleside at Skylark. She and her husband, Rick Barth, started an engineering company in 2005 that operated in the Glenwood Springs, CO area until 2012.  Earning a Bachelors degree in Biology from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1997, she has worked in medical research on Pediatric Medulloblastomas and in sequencing porcine DNA for transplant research at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. In Colorado, she acquired her agent license for Life, Health, Auto, and Home insurance and was a bookkeeper for their corporation. Andrea and Rick have four children who attend the school.
Principal – Nicole Wenger has over 20 years experience teaching, speaking, and developing curriculum. As co-founder of Skylark School, Nicole is delighted to share her passion and work alongside parents to live life well. “Helping start Skylark School has been one of the greatest rewards of my life. I have the privilege to work alongside and individually observe each child grow, in every area of their life, in a warm, joyful and challenging atmosphere.” Mrs. Wenger has a B.S. from Bridgewater State University and a M.S. in Environmental Studies / Conservation Biology from Antioch University in Keene N.H. Nicole and her husband, Chris Wenger, are co-founders of Ambleside at Skylark and they have two boys who attend the school.
Grade K, Art, and Music Teacher – Britny McElfresh taught at Rhema Child Development Center in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma prior to joining Skylark. She graduated from Rhema Bible College in 2012 with a Youth Ministry degree and again in 2013 with an extended studies music degree in Worship Composition. She has volunteered as a Youth Leader in the flood middle school youth group for over two years before pursuing teaching. Throughout and after college she has been an active part of the New Creation Church worship team. In her spare time Ms. McElfresh loves to paint and develop her craft and sells her art locally. After being introduced to the Ambleside at Skylark she knew she wanted to be involved. “I am so thankful to have an opportunity to teach in a place that reverences God above all else. The children learn in an atmosphere of joy and I absolutely love being here as they discover and learn about the world around them and the amazing God who created it all.”
Spanish TPamengualeacher and Ambleside Afternoons – Paola Amengual graduated from Aspen Massage Institute and is working towards her B.A. in Psychology. Paola is an active member of Roca de Refugio’s Worship Team and teaches Sunday School. In her spare time Ms. Amengual enjoys the outdoors through camping, hiking, and sports such as volleyball and snowboarding. ” It is a true privilege to work and serve at Ambleside at Skylark where God is at the center, and where the children can learn about all the great and wonderful things he made for us.”
Middle School – Matt Wilcox  attended an Ambleside School from 2nd to 8th grade. In 2016 he graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. After graduating he hiked the Pacific Crest Trail. While he was in Oregon, he accepted a teaching position at Skylark and moved from his home in Virginia to Glenwood Springs. He enjoys reading, hiking, skiing, biking, and anything else outdoors that Colorado offers. Matt has been hearing and learning about Charlotte Mason his entire life and is excited to be part of a growing school where students are inspired by worthy ideas and encouraged to strive for excellence in all things. 
Audrey AsplundGrade 3 and 4 and Spanish – Audrey Asplund graduated from New Creation School of the Bible and is finishing her B.A. in Business Administration with an emphasis in sustainable business and an A.A. in Spanish.  Audrey helps out with middle school youth group, the evangelism team and is also participating in an internship at New Creation Church.  In her free time, Ms. Asplund enjoys the outdoors through hiking, running and other sports, soccer in particular.  Audrey is embracing her first year at Skylark with enthusiasm. “It is an honor and a privilege to be part of Ambleside at Skylark where God is the center and children can flourish in learning. My first thought when observing was that I would want my children to be taught with this method and in this atmosphere.”
Grade 1 and 2 – Carrie Bowen worked with significant support needs children for 8 years before coming to Ambleside at Skylark. She graduated with an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and is currently enrolled in Grand Canyon University completing her Bachelors degree. Carrie is an active member of her church choir as well as the media department. “I love that I get to work with wonderful people. God has brought me into the family here at The Ambleside at Skylark and I feel very blessed to have this opportunity. It is a wonderful, blessed opportunity  to nurture children in their walk with God as well as their education.”
Arrowsmith – Jenn Zwickl grew-up in Glenwood Springs and moved back to the area in 2009 to raise her son.  She received her Associates of Arts from Colorado Mountain College, and her Bachelors of Science in Psychology with an Emphasis in Addictions Counseling from Liberty University. In the summer of 2016, Jenn received her Certified Arrowsmith Program Teacher credentials in Toronto, Canada.  She is a volunteer and continues to work towards her state licensure as an addictions counselor.   In her spare time Jenn enjoys reading, crocheting, being outdoors, golfing, camping and playing with her son. “I am truly blessed that my son and I are both able to be part of the Ambleside at Skylark community!” Jenn has one child attending Ambleside.
